There is a wonderful word found in Psalm 23:6
which says, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”
If you take a look at the meaning of the word “follow” you will see that it is a lot different than what we are used to defining it as. It really means to not just follow at a distance but it means to run after, to chase down and to catch… for the purpose of consuming and captivating.
That is a very interesting definition of the word follow because it is referring to our Heavenly Father. Did you ever actually think that our Heavenly Father is running after; doing everything He can to chase you down so He could embrace you and consume you with His great love?
You know, during my time of quiet with the Lord I heard Him saying, “Tell My children that I love them so much and that I am running and chasing after them to consume their hearts with My passion.”
Some of the things we go through we don't even realize that God is allowing them to take place to catch our attention. I think of Moses who saw the burning bush; it was God pursuing him after 40 years in the back side of a desert; wanting him to recognize His great love.
Let me tell you this, when you are caught by His love and you finally come to the recognition of how much He loves you; you never want to let go of Him. Then you start to pursue His heart! We talk a lot about us pursuing God but let’s take a moment to recognize on a daily basis how much God is pursuing our heart.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life.
